This series consists of applications for mining leases and applications for protected gold mining leases, in the Tennant Creek region. Applications for mining leases are located in boxes one and two. Applications numbers 400-500 and 778 are missing from the series. The applications for protected gold mining leases are located in box three and are numbered 779-1013. The Application for Mining Lease form is a foolscap landscape form that contains the details of the relevant warden, the date and the details, including name and address, of the relevant applicant/s and the type of mining lease being applied for. The applicant/s certify that they will comply under the said regulations dealing with applications for mining leases. Beneath this is a table that records the name and address of the applicant, the extent of ground applied for, the name of each person occupying the land applied for, the miners' right held by each applicant, the precise locality and term for which the lease is required, whether the boundaries of the land applied for will include any river, creek, deposit, or permanent water spring, or artificial reservoir, public road, or reserve and, finally general remarks and a rough sketch. These application are folded into dockets and the back of the form records the date and time the application was received, by which warden and relevant notes by the warden. The warden dated and signed for when the application was [r]espectfully forwarded to His Honour The Administrator and it has been recorded when the application was approved, how the warden was notified, the date it was received and signed.
